Our founder, Hlengiwe Brenda Mlotshwa, didn't wake up one morning and decide to start a bra business. She arrived here after years of living the exact problem that MaMloo solves — the shoulder grooves from straps carrying weight they should never have to carry, the back pain from a band three sizes too loose, the exhaustion of knowing that your cup size exists, but that no shop nearby stocks it.
She grew up in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, in a community where going braless wasn't an option — and yet the right bra was never affordable or available. The "boutique" options were R900 minimum and usually only went up to a DD in name only. The mainstream retailers ended at D. Larger cup women were invisible to the industry.
So she built what she needed. Not as a hobby, not as a side income — but as a deliberate, purposeful answer to a real gap in the South African market. She trained in professional bra fitting. She sourced structured bras engineered for DD through K cup bodies. She launched pop-up fitting events so that women in cities without boutiques could experience what a properly fitted bra actually feels like.
MaMloo is not a passion project. It is the product of a woman who knew exactly what was missing, and decided she would be the one to provide it.

The specialist bra market in South Africa has always been dominated by boutiques that import premium international brands and price them accordingly. A DD–K cup bra from one of these boutiques typically costs between R900 and R1,500. For many South African women — especially in communities outside of Sandton, Umhlanga, or the Atlantic Seaboard — this pricing is simply not realistic.
MaMloo was built to close that gap. Not by cutting corners on quality or construction — but by being intentional about access. We source bras engineered specifically for full-bust bodies: reinforced underwires, multi-section cups, wide-set straps, high-set sides. The structure a DD–K woman actually needs.
Our current collection is available from R380. This is not a clearance price. It is our price — a deliberate decision that every South African woman deserves a bra that actually fits her, regardless of her postcode or her paycheck.
Stock in each style is limited to what we hold in the current season. When a style sells out, it may not return immediately. If you find your size and style, we recommend securing it.
