You are not too much. Your body is not a problem to be solved. Your curves are not something you need to minimise, hide, or apologise for. And your chest is not a challenge that makes bra shopping impossible — it's just been treated that way by an industry that wasn't designed with you in mind.
This guide is. And so is every bra we carry at Bras By MaMloo.
Let's Start With the Mindset
Before we get into measurements, styles, and fitting tips, we need to address something that we see with nearly every curvy woman who comes to us for the first time: the apology.
She'll say things like: "I know I'm difficult to fit." "I have a weird shape." "I'm bigger than I should be." "I'm sorry, I know my size is unusual."
Stop. Right now.
You are not difficult. You are not unusual. You are not "too much." You have a body — a beautiful, worthy body — and finding the right bra for it is simply a matter of knowing where to look and what to look for. That's it. We've done this with thousands of women. We'll do it with you too.
What "Curvy" Means in Bra Fitting Terms
In the world of bra fitting, "curvy" or "full bust" typically means:
- A larger difference between under-bust and over-bust measurements (DD cup and above)
- Breast tissue that's fuller, rounder, or sits wider on the chest
- A band size that doesn't match the cup size you've been assuming
- Breast shape that varies from what most "standard" bras are designed for
None of this is unusual or "wrong." It simply means you need bras that are designed for real bodies — not the narrow range that mass-market retail caters to.
The Most Common Fitting Issues for Curvy Women
- Cup overflow / "double breast" — Almost always a sign that the cup is too small. The solution is going up in cup size, often by more than you'd expect.
- Band riding up — The band is too large. A firmer band in the correct size provides real support and stops the back-riding.
- Straps digging in — When the band isn't supporting, straps compensate. Fix the band; fix the straps.
- Side breast tissue not contained — You need a wider cup that extends further towards the armpit. This is a style/shape issue, not a size issue alone.
- Underwire sitting on breast tissue — Cup is too small. The wire should sit flat on the chest wall, not on breast tissue.
- Bra rotating / slipping forward — Band too large, cup shape wrong for your breast shape.
Choosing the Right Bra Style for Your Body
Remember: Style is not a privilege reserved for smaller sizes. Every style we mention above is available in DD through K cups. You don't have to compromise on beauty to get the support you need.
How the Right Bra Changes Your Silhouette
This is something women are often surprised by. When your bra fits correctly — with the right band, the right cup, the right style for your shape — everything changes.
Clothes fit better. Posture improves automatically. The visual weight of your bust is lifted and positioned correctly. Your waist looks more defined. Your shoulders relax. You stand taller — not because you're trying, but because the support structure beneath your clothing is finally doing what it's supposed to.
Women leave our fitting events saying they look like they've lost weight. They haven't — they've just found their correct size.
For Women Who've Always Bought "What Was Available"
We understand. You've been buying 38D not because it fit, but because it was the biggest option in the store. You've been compressing yourself into sizes that weren't designed for you. You've accepted pain, discomfort and frustration as "part of having a bigger chest."
You don't have to anymore.
At Bras By MaMloo, we stock DD through K cups in a wide range of band sizes. Whatever your body's measurements — there is a beautiful, supportive, comfortable bra in that size. And we'll help you find it.
Let's find your perfect fit together.
Send MaMloo your measurements or just describe what you're experiencing — the discomfort, the ill-fitting bras, what you wish your bra could do. She'll guide you to the right style and size, personally.
